Even though many see Capri as just a great one-day trip destination from the Amalfi Coast or Naples, Capri is so much more than this. This gorgeous island deserves a lot more than just a few hours of your attention. Adorned with spectacular landscapes, luxury hotels, and exclusive boutiques, Capri promises unforgettable experiences and utmost pampering.

Once an island of myths, mermaids, Roman orgies, and royal guests, Capri is now a point of rendezvous for the rich and famous, a fabulous honeymoon destination, and a labyrinth of picturesque streets and splendid views for rushed visitors. However, travelers who are here for just a few hours usually miss the magical facet of the island. When the sun sets and the boats have left, Capri turns into a romantic little paradise, an idyllic backdrop for long walks hand in hand and candlelit dinners.

Capri is an island to be savored! Don’t be in a hurry to check all the attractions on your must-see list. Wake up late, enjoy your breakfast in the sun, and then start your journey of exploration. You can either start with a tour of Capri Town or a visit to Anacapri.

Eventually, all roads lead to the Piazzetta, the core of Capri Town. This is the perfect place to take a short break, enjoy a cocktail or a cappuccino, and just watch the world go by. Capri Town is also known for the superb Gardens of Augustus that offer beautiful views of the Faraglioni rock formations and Marina Piccola.

Hikers often venture on the path down from the Piazzetta to Marina Piccola, a destination situated on the opposite side of Marina Grande where all ferries dock. The beach here is wild and rugged, guarded by imposing cliffs, and the water is crystal clear. What better reward after a hike? Maybe also a meal and a beer at one of the beachfront restaurants.

For a quick lunch back in town, choose the pizza at Verginiello, absolutely delicious and reasonably priced. Now that you’ve recharged your batteries, take another walk towards Hotel Quisisana to discover the superb and surprisingly peaceful Via Tragara. The street is home to superb gardens and stunning villas and hotels. It also offers beautiful views of the sea while wrapping your senses in the perfume and colors of jasmine and bougainvillea.

Anacapri – tranquil and picturesque

A trip to Anacapri will take you up on Monte Solaro, the highest point of the island. Don’t worry, you don’t have to walk there unless you really want to. Just take the chairlift from Piazza Vittoria and you’ll get on top of the mountain in no time. The views are truly spectacular. Sip a café a La Canzone de Cielo and enjoy this serene atmosphere in one of the most beautiful settings in the world.

If you’re up for a walk back down to the town, just follow the signs for the Cetrella hermitage. The road will take you to a small chapel perched on one side of the mountain and, if you’ll find it open, you can take a sneak peek inside and even admire more fabulous views from its superb terraces over the sea.

The heart of Anacapri is made of tiny alleys and squares lined with artisan workshops and traditional houses. Stop for a while on one of the majolica benches there and embrace the tranquility. For more breathtaking views, visit Villa San Michele and its gorgeous gardens. The villa dates back to the beginning of the 20th century and is home to some of the most beautiful gardens in the country. It offers breathtaking views and invites travelers to walk among a superb variety of flowers and plants.

Don’t leave the island without admiring the island from the sea and discovering the phenomenal Blue Grotto. The most famous attraction of the island, the cave is hidden inside a rugged cliff and the only entrance is a tiny and narrow opening at water level.
