The majority of surfers come to Gran Canaria for the quality sandy beaches and perfect small to moderate waves to enjoy and escape from crowds found on Canary Islands surf spots. Nature conspired to create an idyll that tempts surfers back to its sublime shores year after year - or at least those in the know!

The island is very consistent and the surf is found to the north, east and far south of the island but the west also has some secret spots, many spots still undiscovered. Gran Canaria provides quality small but fun and enjoyable waves and is best suited for those surfers who want a warm destination with mild water temperatures year round and also want to enjoy great tourism facilities.

The surf season on Gran Canaria is all year long with the larger swells arriving from September to March and the small swells May to August. Swells are generated out of the Atlantic Ocean arriving at Gran Canaria with regularity.

There is surf to suit all standards of surfer on Gran Canaria with a couple big wave spots to the north of the island for that more adventurous type of surfer. You will find excellent sandy beach surf peaks and reef breaks through out the island.
