Surfing in El Salvador is both a cultural experience and a greatly enjoyable pleasure. The surf season is almost year round with the best months being March to October. During the months of November and December the surf will average is 3 to 6 feet and be very clean, January and February the waves are very small but clean, very good for learning, and in our experience if there's a 3 foot swell or more the surf will be truly great. This is a destination for all to enjoy but it is also the best type of surfing experience that you could hope for, a real surf travel experience never to be forgotten for the right reasons.
The great thing about our resorts in El Salvador is there 's hardly ever any crowding, this is something you will rarely have to deal with, with the exception of 3 or 4 friendly locals you will probably have the surf just to yourself. You will find great swell along the whole coats that offers great waves with long rides and barrel sections.
The country is surrounded by picturesque mountain ranges and an ancient forests, which makes for an enjoyable walk later in the day or in the early evening when it has cooled down some. The coastline itself is very beautiful and extremely rich with surf spots that have never been explored and offer superb potential.
Often called the "land of rights", El Salvador's coastline is renowned for its right-hand cobblestone and point breaks, it also has miles of uncrowded beach breaks. El Salvador has over 300Km of pacific coastline and sports extremely consistent waves. The land runs east to west and catches any and all ground swells generated from the southern hemisphere with average wave heights of waist-to-head high over 300 days a year!.
Please note that you will not see many surfers in El Salvador and those that you do see do not have much equipment available to buy, so bring down some extra equipment and you will have friends for life. The political instability that haunted El Salvador in the 1980s is long gone. The country has been stable since the early 1990s. Most locals you meet are friendly and helpful and surfers made very welcome.
