Balangan Surf Experience
Just drop into the eat-sleep-surf rhythm with one of the world's best surf regions on your own doorstep: far from the madding crowds and shopping malls, we have only one thing in mind: surfing, and nothing else! The camp hotel is situated directly on the cliffs of Balangan Beach, on the Balinese peninsula of Bukit. One of Bali's longest left-handers breaks over reef at the foot of the cliffs on to the most wonderful white sandy beach with palm groves. Since the spot can be run at any tide surfing's possibe several times a day!
Just a few minutes' walk will take you to Dreamland, Bingin or Impossibles. Other world-famous spots such as Uluwatu or Padang Padang are only a short drive away. The camp only takes up to 10 participants so it's easy for intermediate and
advanced surfers to fall into the eatsleep-surf-rhythm and forget everything- apart from surfing - on our twice-daily "Guided Tours" round Bukit and Bali. However, if you prefer to be out and about on your own, you're free to use our jeeps - just check with us.
Six days of the week we organise up to two daily "guided" surf sessions to various breaks all round Bali. The surfspots we head for are graded according to the various surf levels and selected depending on the tide, swell and wind conditions. Our guides are all familiar with the island, drive safely and can give you competent briefing on the spot. Here they'll point out the characteristics of reef surfing or any possible hazards. The guides are always with you in the water, giving you
tips and showing you tricks. The spots around the Bukit Peninsula are ideal for intermediate and advanced surfers. The extremely constant south/south-west swells from April to November ensure perfect waves especially at Bukit, and lots of pointbreaks and lots of tubes. No joke: bed to beach in just 2 minutes - just make your way down to the fantastic Balangan beach, where a lefthander breaks and, if the swell is big enough, there may well be one or two tube sections as well.
Dreamlands semi-beachbreaks are the next spot to the south of Balangan, and are just in the next bay, so they can be reached on foot if the tide's out or paddled if the tide's high. Apart from an A-frame peak there's a simpler left- and right-hander and a fun shorebreak.
A ten-minute drive will take you to all the famous surfspots of the southern peninsula, e.g. Bingin, Impossibles, Padang-Padang and Uluwatu. The beachbreaks of Kuta are also only a 30-minute drive away. As we already said, we go strictly by
the conditions given, that means with the right swell the odd secret spot might be revealed.
For your comfort and to make sure you really enjoy your holiday, we've made every effort to create a genuine Bali feeling in our choice of accommodation.
The entire hotel is in keeping with Balinese style, paying attention to the smallest of details and of course specially geared towards surfers. The two-storey building with the bedrooms also has a small restaurant and is surrounded by a tropical garden with several Bali houses where you can chill between your surf sessions.
There's always a wonderful view of the cliff-lined coast and the sea. You can choose from double rooms with your own bathroom or two-floored bungalows for up to 4 with a tropical bathroom and garden.
