Adventure in the Land of White Gold Multi-Activity Tour
The adrenalin of snowmobiling, the mystic silence of a dog sledding excursion in the wild, the joy of tube sliding, an amazing snowshoe excursion along with an authentic modern days trapper. To allow you more time to take advantage of the several free or optional activities available at the Adventure Center, we voluntarily scheduled less activities than in our other multi-activity packages.
Day 1 - Montreal / Mauricie
Arrival and shuttle from the airport to the Rivière Mattawin area. Night at the Auberge de la Rivière Mattawin.
Day 2 - Mauricie
You will now take advantage of a guided snowshoeing excursion in the heart of the Canadian forest. You will then reach a remotely located Voyager camp. While sipping a glass of Caribou (Quebec's aperitif wine) you will be introduced to the art of living in the wild: construction of a traditional Native shelter, trapping techniques, etc. After a hearty lunch cooked over a camp fire, you will have the opportunity to experience cross country skiing, ice skating, tube sliding and other winter delights!
Day 3 - Mauricie (140 km)
It's snowmobile time! After the crossing of the majestic Saint-Maurice River, your guide will lead you towards a cozy forest shelter where you will enjoy a hearty lunch on the shores of the mighty Mattawin River, completely isolated from the rest of the civilization. While eating around a bonfire, your guide will tell you some stories related to the lumberjacks and the raftmen who used to work in this section of the Mauricie Wildlife Reserve. You will then have the opportunity to try some off trail riding in order to return to the main trail network. After dinner, you will be invited for a fascinating evening of story telling around a camp fire.
Day 4 - Mauricie
After these two days of activities, some of you will surely want to take advantage of a free day to try the several free activities available at the Adventure Center (cross country skiing, ice skating, hockey, snowshoeing, tube sliding, etc.). After dinner, you'll be invited to a lecture about Quebec's sceneries and activities.
Day 5 - Mauricie
Get ready for some action! For those wishing to experience the raw energy of nature, nothing compares to a dog sledding adventure in the wild territories of the Saint-Maurice Valley. During this 1/2 day experience, you will be carried by the powerful hounds while catching a glimpse of the ever changing sceneries as you glide across a winter wonderland. Your musher (guide) will teach you the art of harnessing the huskies and you will have the opportunity to ride your own sled. In the evening: Wild game feast organized in a rustic shelter in the heart of the forest. You will then have access to an authentic Native sauna and you will have the opportunity to take part in a traditional purification session.
Day 6 - Mauricie / Montreal
Today you will first take place in a Bombardier B12 snowmobile (12 seats) in order to explore the marvels of the back country. You will then be introduced to a typical Canadian activity: ice fishing. You'll even have the opportunity to eat your own catches during a hearty lunch taken in a forest shelter. Along with an authentic trapper, you will finally discover the fascinating world of the wild animals during an unforgettable snowshoeing excursion. He'll also teach you the different trapping techniques. Back at the Adventure Center at the end of the day, you'll take advantage of a farewell dinner before the transfer to Montreal. Night at the Travelodge Hotel.
Day 7 - Montreal
Those who returned to Montreal the night before will take advantage of some free time to discover the city before the airport transfer.
