Beartooth Ranch Experience
This is a great working guest ranch and is located in the shadows of the stunning and famed Beartooth Mountains along the Clarks Fork of the Yellowstone River. Raising cattle, sheep, alfalfa, corn and sugar beets have been a family tradition for three generations at this ranch.
Whether you are a novice or an experienced rider, you will find horses suited to your riding ability. Our riding experiences explore the ranch, wide open range and pine covered mountains. Spend your days on the ranch learning about horses and cattle, helping with the chores, exploring nature, fishing or just soaking up the beauty and the quiet.
With all the fresh air and activities available with in this ranching experience, we know the importance of good, hearty, home cooked meals. Breakfast, lunch and supper are all served family style in the ranch house. After a relaxing supper take a stroll along the river, sit by the campfire or watch the stars peek out under the magic of Big Sky country. We welcome you to "Kick off your boots, hang your hat and make yourself at home" and discover the friendliness and hospitality of Montana.
The ranch store is well stocked with drinks, munchies and any toiletries you may need. Plus you will find a wide assortment of Ranch memorabilia.
Our wranglers will help you feel comfortable and confident with your horse. Try a morning ride, afternoon ride or an all day ride, and get ready to see some majestic country! Depending on the time of year you visit, you may be involved in many aspects of ranch life, from wrangling horses to branding, doctoring and moving cattle, putting out salt blocks or feeding the critters. Every week we feature a barbeque at the original homestead cabin under the shade of giant cottonwood trees. If you have had enough riding for the day, you might want to hitch a ride to the barbeque on our wagon!
If you want to take a break from riding, once a week we plan a day trip to explore the westen town of Cody. Visit the famed Buffalo Bill Museum, stroll the historic main street that offers a variety of shops filled with everything western imaginable, and take in the evening rodeo. Also nearby are great options for fishing. You can either step out the door to the banks of the Clarks Fork and cast your line for a trophy trout, or you can take a short walk down to the creek for little brookies. We would be glad to take you to visit the fish hatchery which is only a few miles from the ranch.
There is a constant show of nature's wildlife at hand. In summer we listen to the call of meadowlarks, sand hill cranes, blue herons, hawks, and we're often treated to the sight of pelicans floating the river. Fall is an ideal time to spot or hunt wild turkey, pheasants or geese. During the cooler months there are numerous bald eagles perched in the trees along the Clarks Fork. Our ranch is an ideal setting to see white tail, mulies, fox, coyote with an occasional visit from a bear, mountain lion, moose or elk.
For a change of pace we keep mountain bikes on hand, or you might want to hike and explore the Beartooth Mountains. Cap off your adventure filled day by soaking in the hot tub under a blanket of stars.
The stunning setting of this ranch provides twelve well appointed guest rooms and all of our ranch house rooms feature private baths, air conditioning and either a mountain or river view!
