Costa Rica is a superb destination for surfing and it is one of those rare mainland destinations that actually has two coastlines to surf, the Caribbean and the Pacific. Our programme is based around Tamarindo on the Pacific coast.

The major swell season is April to October, but the clean surf season is December to April when swell from deep antic lows reach the Pacific coastline with offshore winds a common occurrence. Typically morning surfs are offshore and afternoon are light onshore.

Tamarindo is the perfect laid back quality surf region that here at Pure Vacations we are so pleased to include in our programme. The surf resort itself is a wide bay with a rivermouth in the middle. At the northern end is Playa Grande which to be honest has a world class beach break and is also famous for its turtle population that will happily swim next to you in the lineup.

The resort is a small beach community that draws beach lovers, scuba divers, nature lovers, fisherman and of course surfers. It lies between two national parks and consists of one main road which lie the variety of accommodations we offer. First time visitors to Costa Rica tend to fall in love with this tropical paradise. Other activities include snorkeling, scuba diving, sailing, kayaking and horse back riding.

With a truly classic swell Tamarindo becomes alive with lots of spots all generating surf, these vary from rivermouth fast lines to beach breaks. On a small swell you just head a little further down the coast and you will find it amping at spots like Avellana and Playa Negra.So what's the weather like? This area has a wet, trpoical climate with high temeratures in its 30's every month. Rainfall determines seasons rather than the temperature, and the rainy season is between May to November.

The Hotel Pueblo Dorado is located just outside the heart of Tamarindo, making it an ideal location for exploring the local surf and attractions (the beach and closest surf break is within a two minute walk). This small and secluded hotel offers clean and comfortable accommodations at an affordable price. Each room offers 1, 2, or 3 twin or double beds, air conditioning, private bath with hot water shower and security box. On site amenities include pool and secure parking if you choose not to get the transfer and hire a car at the airport or pre-arrange one through us.
